Latest newsletter from Breaking Chains Honduras

Originally posted March 12, 2014

Greetings! We hope this email finds you well. The latest newsletter from Breaking Chains is now available here.

In this issue, please take note of our BC children and teens who are returning to classes. Please also take time to pray for the individuals and families listed in the special prayer request article on pages 4 and 5. Several members of our BC family are struggling right now and are in need of God’s strength and guidance.

Please also note that we are continuing to seek one-time donations of $25 or $50 to purchase school supplies for the children of families who worship with us at Breaking Chains. Our goal is to help 10 to 15 families who are unable to send their kids to school because they don’t have the necessary supplies.

As always, we thank God for your continued prayer and support. You are a true blessing to us and those we seek to serve in Honduras.

Bendiciones,

The Breaking Chains Honduras team

2014 is almost here! Please consider Breaking Chains for year-end giving

Originally posted December 11, 2013

Dear friends of Breaking Chains,

Now that winter is drawing near and 2013 is coming to a close, we pray that your family, like ours, is reflecting upon a year of blessings. It seems like we say it every year, but as we look back we cannot help but be overwhelmed by God’s faithfulness in our young organization.

Thanks to support from people like you, we were able to witness several snapshots of the Father’s hand in Tegucigalpa this year. Such as watching 13 elementary school students proudly don their uniforms daily to complete their respective grades of primary school. Or witnessing a single mom persevere through beauty school to begin supporting her family through work in a salon. Or rejoicing as we saw our church family grow each week to serve more widows, children, weary mothers and hard-working fathers all searching for community and hope.

As we look toward 2014, we hope to continue to invest in these lives and more, but we will need your support. This coming year, we have goals of growing our physical and spiritual outreach efforts as well as continuing to sponsor our children, teens and adults for education opportunities. Additionally, we desire to hire support staff in order to free up our missionary capacity to more fully focus on ministering to those we serve. We also seek to raise funds to transition our longest-staying Breaking Chains residents to independent living.

As you strive to bless others through your end-of-the-year giving, we ask that you please consider Breaking Chains. Your tax-deductible contributions will be instrumental in supporting our ministry’s mission as well as creating the potential for more life-changing snapshots like those mentioned above.

If you wish to contribute, you may do so online here. You may also send check donations to our mailing address at P.O. Box 20454 Oklahoma City, OK 73156.

We cannot thank you enough for your continued support of Breaking Chains Honduras. We are humbled by your partnership and pray God’s blessings upon you and yours this holiday season.

Bendiciones,

Breaking Chains Honduras

Filled with gratitude: all are sponsored for Beach Christmas!

Originally posted December 10, 2013

Every one of our Breaking Chains residents is sponsored for Beach Christmas 2013! We are so grateful to everyone who donated in order to make this happen. Beach Christmas is one of our favorite times of the year, and we are so excited to able to spend precious time with our BC family in Honduras again this year.

Now we continue a week of shopping, wrapping and packing to get everything ready for our trip to Amapala on Dec. 19th. Our residents have been looking forward to this trip all year, and now it is almost here! Please remember to check our Facebook page for photo updates from the trip.

If you missed out on sponsoring someone but would still like to contribute to the trip, you can still make a donation of any amount here. Additional donations will be used to help with gifts for other families close to Breaking Chains, provide for our actual Christmas Day meal and be used to help celebrate New Years. If you were unable to donate the full $125 but still wish to contribute a smaller amount, this would be a great opportunity.

Thank you for your continued blessings of our young ministry! We hope that you are just as blessed this Christmas season.

Grandma Sepherina: Sugar and spice

Originally posted December 9, 2013

Grandma Sepherina (or Grandma CiCi as we like to call her) is a sweetheart and a spitfire. Though she stands about four and a half feet tall, she still commands the respect of everyone in her family including her four children and one great-grandchild.

On the surface, she is the poster child for a doting grandmother. Sweetly escorting her grandchildren by the hand around the building. Pausing to kiss us on the cheek and flashing us a toothless smile when we greet her. Closing her eyes tightly and raising her hands in worship during our church services. But old Grandma knows how to have fun too.

After not being able to attend Beach Christmas last year due to some health problems, she is excited to attend this year. When asked what she wanted for Christmas, her first response was, “a motorcycle.” Then she laughed and said, “Okay, okay. A car.”

We are so blessed to have this sassy Grandma as part of our Breaking Chains family. She is a Grandma to all of us and we can’t wait to spend time with her on the beach again this year.

Season’s greetings! As the year draws to a close, we are reflecting on all of the ways God has blessed our young ministry this past year. That includes through our growing church family, our children, teens and adults who have finished education or training programs, and all of our visiting U.S. groups and volunteers.

The latest newsletter includes articles and photos regarding all of these topics and more. You can view the newsletter here.

Please take a moment to read over all the ways that God’s providence and your support have helped those we serve in Honduras this year. And, as the new year is set to begin, please consider Breaking Chains in your end of the year giving and 2014 regular contributions.

As always, we cannot thank you enough for your support. We pray that you and yours are blessed this holiday season.
